I’m happy to report that Alexis’ 5th year dance recital has come to a close. I can’t believe that she has been taking tap and ballet for 5 years and jazz for 4. We ended up doing her hair differently this year. We usually leave it down and curl it. Today, I was inspired to put it up and keep it simple — she loved it. In fact, she told me that it made her feel like Cinderella. I’ll consider that a WIN!
I told her that she should try her absolute best to smile during every dance and low and behold that is precisely what she did; I’m really proud of her! She just looked like she was having an absolute blast on stage. However, make no mistakes about it — she was. She certainly loves to dance.
It’s amazing to see the changes that have taken place over the years with her. She has grown SO much. A part of me wants to slow it down, but then there’s another part of me that is eager to see the amazing woman that I know she’ll turn into.
The picture, to the right, shows what she looked like 5 years ago walking to the dance studio and then of her walking into the studio 5 years later…to the date. She’s slowly turning into a pre-teen on me. Absolutely bittersweet!
I can’t wait to see what she looks like in another 5 years, but until then I intend on slowing things down. Time is precious.
And I need my mini-me to stay mini for as long as I can keep her that way 🙂
